Hillingdon Shopmobility  provides fantastic facilities for those with mobility challenges (even if they are not registered as disabled) and we have a wide range of mobility scooters and wheelchairs for all abilities.

Our friendly and helpful team of staff and volunteers will help you choose exactly the right equipment to suit your needs and abilities and provide you with tuition on using it safely and confidently. Based in the car park of “intu Uxbridge” shopping centre, we have 22 electric scooters, 6 powerchairs, 20 manual wheelchairs and a 4 wheeled walker with a seat.

But thats not all!

You can also borrow blankets and folding walking sticks.

There’s more! You can even use our services when we are closed! There are special wheelchairs and small electric scooters available for holiday hire at a very reasonable charge. So go ahead and enjoy planning your next trip, either to Uxbridge town or farther afield.

We are open Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9.15am and 4.30pm (last hire 3.00pm)

If you would like more information about the service you can leave a message at the bottom of this page. Please note that this website can be viewed by anyone so we advise that you do not include phone numbers or email addresses in your message. You can also give the office a call on 01895 271510. Hi
I am looking for use of mobility scooter on Thursday so my Nan can complete her Xmas shop minus the pain, waiting on a knee replacement.
How do we go about hiring for the day please?

    • Hi Kelly,
In order to use the service your Nan will have to be registered as a customer so that she is covered by our insurance policy. Please call in at our office any time between 9.30 and 3.00. There is an annual registration fee of £18, which will contribute towards our insurance costs.

We need to see some identification. She will be asked to produce a document showing her name and address. Suitable documents are:

      Bank statement
      Driving licence
      Utility bill
      Printed prescription

We will provide full training. More details can be found on the ‘How do I join’ tab on the top of our website’s home page,
      Regards
      Derek

    • Hi Ivanna,
In order to use the service your father will have to be registered as a customer so that he is covered by our insurance policy. There is an annual registration fee of £18, which will contribute towards our insurance costs.

We need to see some identification. He will be asked to produce a document showing his name and address. Suitable documents are:

      Driving licence
      Utility bill
      Printed prescription

We will also need to see the same sort of identification from you.

joined in 2007 just had total knee replacement can I still use existing card and pay for year plus charges please.

    • Hi Margaret,
We may still have your details on record, it depends when you last used us. The best thing would be to start afresh, in which case you need to bring in one form of ID showing your address and the annual charge which is £18. We don’t take cards so we’d need cash or cheque please. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9.15 to 4.45 although because of a temporary staff shortage we may close at 4.00 on Mondays and Saturdays for a while.
      See you soon!

Hi I’d like to borrow a wheelchair for a few hours to take my mother law around the shops . Do I need to book this ? Also if we need ID and how much will it cost . Thank you

    • Hi Jacquie
Yes you can borrow a wheelchair. Pop into the office between 0915 and 1630 Monday to Saturday and they’ll sort you out. If you are not an existing customer you will need to join so bring some ID showing your address. It will cost £18 for one year’s membership or you can join for the day only for £5 – cash or cheques only. Any questions please ring 01895271510.

  7. Hello, i’d like to know if i can borrow a wheelchair from 26th of june to 10th of july. How does it cost?

    • No problem Tony. If you are not already registered bring in one proof of id which shows your name and address and £15 cash or cheque for the registration then a further £20 a week plus a £20 returnable deposit. We have plenty of wheelchairs so just turn up on the day you want to borrow one, no need to book. Hope this helps Sue

I would like to enquire about a wheelchair for my mum as she is a major stroke victim house bound.
We would like to hire a nice one for long term.
Please feel free to contact me on the following no: ******** (number removed)
    Thank you
    Susan

    • Hi Susan
Sorry for the delay in replying. We’ve had a glitch with our website but it’s fixed now.
To hire a wheelchair from us you need to first join the scheme, which costs £15 for a year’s membership, then pay a £20 returnable deposit and then it’s £20 a week (or part of a week). Full details are on the website.

  9. Hello
Do you purchase secondhand mobility scooters? My late mother’s scooter is a Shoprider Cordoba in good condition. It is at the family home in South Ruislip.

    Kind regards

Hi, im coming to Uxbridge for shopping tomorrow and if possible I will need a scooter as my legs nor upper arms work that well. As I no longer live in Uxbridge what ID will I need to bring to register and what level are you on in the car park?

    Thanks Daimon

    • Hi Daimon,
We are on Level 2 of the car park. In order to use the service you have to be registered as a customer so that you are covered by our insurance policy. There is an annual registration fee of £15, which will contribute towards our insurance costs. Otherwise you could use our ‘Pay-per-Use’ option which costs £5 each visit.

We also need to see some identification. You will be asked to produce a document showing both your name and address. Suitable documents are:

      Bank statement
      Driving licence
      Utility bill
      Printed prescription
Unfortunately we cannot accept the following items as proof of name and address:

      Bus pass
      Credit card
      Passport
      Blue badge

      Regards
      Derek

    you are providing.

Hi I was wondering how we go about borrowing a wheelchair for my mother for shopping in Uxbridge on a Sunday , noticing you are closed Sundays.

    Many Thanks

    • Hi Julie
      There are two solutions.
If you join our scheme you can hire a wheelchair for the weekend. This will cost you £12 to join (that’s for a year – January to December) then £10 for the hire of the wheelchair and a £20 refundable deposit.
The other option is to try The Chimes information desk in the shopping centre. They have two wheelchairs which they let out on a first come, first served basis. They don’t charge a fee but do ask for ID and a deposit of £30.
      Hope this helps
